Product Description

Vintage extension feed guides used in platen printing process. In original manufacturer packaging (small matchstick-style box), with 3 guides and double-sided illustrated instruction information. Guides are still attached to information card. Box is is lightly tanned and shows moderate wear on one short side. Edwin L. Megill specialized in the design and manufacture of gauge pins, or rather creative little devices used to hold paper in place as it is being printed on a platen press. Extension Feed Guides allow the pressman to feed stock below the lower edge of the platen. The extension feed guides are clamped under the lower tympan bale and allow the pressman to feed the sheet extended below the bottom edge of the platen.
