Now Hiring! Part-time Shipping Assistant

Work where you can make a difference. The MSU Surplus Store & Recycling Center has an opening for a part-time shipping assistant. This position will fulfill online orders, maintain the inventory of online items, and provide outstanding customer service.Come join our committed, driven, and eclectic team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Preparing and packaging Surplus Store online items for shipment.
  • Receiving incoming Surplus items for online listing and storage.
  • Maintaining inventory of listed items with computer management software.
  • Organizing shipping station and materials.
  • Providing in-person and electronic service to external and internal customers.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Characteristics

  • A commitment to rethinking waste, recycling, and reuse.
  • Previous experience preparing and packaging items for shipment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of basic personal computer terminology and operations, and the ability to use e-mail and the Internet.
  • Working knowledge of common resale web sites such as Amazon and eBay.
  • Frequent lifting of 26 to 75 pounds and occasional lifting of over 75 pounds.
  • Consistency and reliability for morning shifts Monday through Friday.

This is an on-call position, meaning it is limited to 19 hours per week, but with a set schedule. Morning shifts required. Infrequent evening or weekend opportunities.

Starting Pay Rate: $15/hr.
