Surplus Store is Now Hiring! 40 Hours a Week Position as a Receiving Dock Assistant, Apply Now! -- POSITION FILLED, THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST

The MSU Surplus Store and Recycling Center is in search of a highly-motivated individual to work on our receiving dock area. The temporary dock associate will provide assistance with the loading, unloading and processing of incoming materials from campus departments and outside vendors. In addition, they will ensure maximum landfill diversion, act as a back-up for the sales floor coordinator, direct student employees in stocking, organization and safety.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all incoming/outgoing products and hampers.

  • Maintains safe conditions of the dock and surrounding area.
  • Watches dumpsters and scrap bins to retrieve any items that may be sold and ensure maximum landfill diversion.
  • Ensures that the EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) area is well organized; maintains EHS inventory.
  • Keeps product flow moving at a steady pace.
  • Sorts hampers, deciding which items to keep and which to recycle.
  • Oversees student hamper processors.
  • Receives service requests and tags items.
  • Responsible for handling and tracking of outgoing material.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to lift 26 to 75 pounds and occasional lifting over 75 lbs.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan Driver’s License.
  • An interest in waste diversion, recycling and re-use.

Hours:

Full time, Monday through Friday, 7:20 a.m.- 3:50 p.m.

Possibility to work until 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays; 40 hours/week and overtime will be available.

Payrate: Starts at $16.37
