The MSU Surplus Store and Recycling Center is seeking an on-call Co-Pilot to provide support to the material recovery truck drivers during the collection process. 

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide support in the Materials Collection trucks by assisting the truck drivers with the loading and moving of recycling, refuse and surplus materials from designated campus sites. This may include, but is not limited to, loading curb carts, dumping 2-yard containers, guiding the driver when backing up, and picking up recycling and refuse debris. Additionally, the candidate must be able to pick-up and load merchandise from departments throughout campus, unload merchandise at the Surplus Store dock, and communicate with releasing University depart

ments.

Requirements:

  • Ability to frequently lift 25-50 lbs., occasional lifting of 75 lbs. and move various sized items with a hand cart.
  • Have an interest in sustainability, recycling and reuse.
  • Must be able to work Monday and Friday.
  • Must have an excellent driving record.
  • Must be organized, reliable, self-motivated.
  • Customer service experience
  • Chauffeur’s license a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in various weather conditions.

Hours and Rate:

Hours: Monday through Friday between the hours of 6 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., with ability to work 5 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on occasion.

Part-time: up to 19 hours per week

Hourly Rate: $10.69
