You've built your own gaming machine. You can identify most computer components by name. You're even aware of networking and other electronic items. Make your computer and electronics hobby your job, while also helping to divert MSU material from the landfill! The MSU Surplus Store & Recycling Center has openings in our Computer Department for a Student Assistant. 

Primary Duties

  • Palletizing of computer department items such as computers and electronics. 
  • Sorting incoming computers, monitors, and electronics.
  • Testing of miscellaneous electronic items.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Able to identify basic hardware and computer components, including their function.
  • Experience managing switches and routers.
  • Knowledge of different types of audio and video connections.
  • Familiarity with managing BIOs of PCs. 
  • Able to frequently lift 15 - 25 lbs.
  • Passion for recycling and reuse.

Must be able to work 30+ hours a week during Summer 2019, with the possibility of continuing into Fall 2019. The Surplus Store & Recycling Center's Computer Department hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 

Pay Rate: $11.00/hr.
