This square grand piano with bench legs was made by D.L Fry & Co. in Syracuse, NY. The exact year of manufacture is unknown, but the piano would've been made between 1855 and 1885. These pianos were made on a very small scale, and were quite expensive for their time, making them exceedingly rare today. The elaborate design, exotic rosewood, and ivory keytops add to the grand aesthetic of the piano. Physically, the unit appears to be in decent condition, especially considering its age. The case is in relatively good condition, however there are layers of wood separating on the music stand, the finish is lacking in some spots There is damage to all four feet. Mechanically, all piano keys play, but some stick and several are severely out of tune. The unit will need to be tuned in order to restore it to its original condition. This piano would be a great restoration project for an avid piano collector, but could also be a great renovation project for any homeowner.
