Back endpapers have a line graph of the prevalence of dacoities in Madhya Pradesh from 1957 to 1961.
"Dacoity" is a term mainly used in India to refer to "banditry." There are three sections to this book: "History Takes A New Turn," which is on the history and causes of dacoity in the Chambal Valley and steps taken to reduce it, "From the Pages of My Diary," which contains journal entries from the author's experiences with dacoits, law officers, and those affected by dacoity, and "A Sociological Study," in which the author attempts to further understand dacoity.
