Arne G. Kettunen Wingback Upholstered Chair and Footstool

This chair was owned by Arne G. Kettunen, state 4-H leader from 1925 to 1956 and incorporator of the Michigan 4-H Foundation, who envisioned a site where 4-H could grow through the training of its volunteers and members. In 1956, only four years after the Michigan 4-H Foundation was incorporated, the foundation acquired 137 acres of property in rural Osceola County in Tustin, Mich. and built Kettunen Center which opened in 1961. Arne G. Kettunen passed away before the center was completed, but his chair was donated by his family. The chair was in the lobby of Kettunen Center until the foundation sold Kettunen Center in 2021.
