  • The Instech Dual Oxygen Electrode Amplifier Model 203 is a laboratory instrument used to precisely measure dissolved oxygen in small liquid samples. It is most commonly used in biological research for applications such as monitoring oxygen consumption and measuring metabolic rates in cells or mitochondria.
  • Electrode function: Each electrode consists of a platinum cathode and a silver anode immersed in a potassium chloride electrolyte solution, all enclosed by an oxygen-permeable membrane.
  • Voltage application: A fixed voltage is applied across the electrodes. This polarizes the cathode, causing any oxygen molecules that diffuse across the membrane to be reduced to hydroxide ions.
  • Current generation: The reduction of oxygen at the cathode produces a small electrical current, the strength of which is directly proportional to the partial pressure of oxygen in the sample.
  • Amplification and display: The Model 203 amplifier detects this tiny electrical signal, amplifies it, and sends it to a data acquisition system for display and analysis. The dual-channel design allows for simultaneous, independent measurements from two separate electrodes

    Local Pickup

    There is no charge for local pickup. Customers will receive notification when their order is ready for pickup. Pickup times are Monday-Friday between 8:00am and 3:30pm and Wednesday between 8:00am and 5:45pm. Customers will have 5 business days to pick up their order.

    Freight Shipping

    Due to the size and weight of certain items, we offer customer arranged freight shipping. The buyer is responsible for the arrangement and payment of all related shipping and handling charges. Palletizing, crating, shrink wrapping and banding services are available for a fee.
